Book & Kindle Crochet Patterns

For people who read: two Kindle sleeves, a page-turner pouch and a bookmark.

Measure your device first. "Kindle" covers several different sizes, and a sleeve that fits a basic Kindle will not close over a Paperwhite in a case. The Meadow Kindle Sleeve is written at 6 by 7.5 inches, in worsted on an I hook, with a book-sized version included in the same PDF - that fits a standard Kindle or a small paperback. The Horizontal Kindle Sleeve opens along the long edge with a button closure, so the device slides out sideways; some people find that easier one-handed.

Both are worked in a dense stitch on purpose. A loose fabric will let a corner press through when the sleeve is in a bag, and the padding is the point. If your device is thicker than the written size - a case, a heavier model - add stitches to the starting chain rather than going up a hook size, which would only loosen the fabric.

The Page Turner Pouch is a mini pouch sized around a canvas zipper bag and a page turner, so there is no sewing. The Bookmark is 2 inches wide by 6 to 8.5 long, whichever you prefer, in worsted on an H hook - at $2.49 it is the cheapest thing in the shop and a good first pattern.

All four make sensible gifts for a reader who already owns everything.
