Headwear Crochet Patterns

The things you wear on your head that are not hats: a twisted headband, an ear warmer, a bandana kerchief and a scrunchie.

The ear warmer and the twisted headband solve the same problem from two directions. An ear warmer is a band worked to fit around the head at ear level, so it covers what a hat covers without flattening your hair - that is the whole point of it, and it is why people who will not wear a beanie will wear one of these. The Twisted Headband adds a knot at the front, worked flat and joined at the back, which sits higher and reads as an accessory rather than as cold-weather gear.

Size these by measuring around your head where the band will sit and then subtracting about an inch. Crochet stretches, and a band made to exact head circumference will slide off within the hour. That inch of negative ease holds it in place.

The Bandana Kerchief is a triangle with ties long enough to knot at the back, and the Scrunchie is worked directly over a hair elastic.
