About this pattern
This is the hat the meadow stitch was designed for, and the one more people have saved than anything else in my catalog. The brim is a flat back-loop strip you crochet to length and join into a ring, then the whole crown is cluster puffs stacked on each other, which gives you a thick, springy hat that holds its shape.
Three sizes run through the pattern in colored brackets - toddler at a 54-row brim finishing about 7.5 inches tall, child at 56 rows and about 8 inches, adult at 58 rows and 8.75 to 9 inches. Because the brim is made flat first, you can hold it against the head it is for and adjust the row count before you close it, which is the real fit control here.
