About this pattern
This is my quickest hat. Two strands of worsted on an 8 mm hook means the whole thing is done in an evening, and the twist comes from working back-loop stitches so the ribs lean rather than sitting straight.
The size is set by your starting chain, which makes this the easiest hat in the shop to fit: adult chains 46 for a 17 inch brim, child chains 44 for 15 to 16 inches, toddler chains 42 for 14 to 15 inches. If you need to adjust, keep your chain count in multiples of two. The height is yours to choose - stopping at row 13 gives a fitted 7.25 inches, and adding rows takes you to 8.5 for slouch.
