Description
Extend the life of your bar soap with this clever meadow stitch soap saver. Pop the bar inside the textured cotton pouch and the cluster puff stitch does double duty: it lathers beautifully and gently exfoliates while the soap stays put — even those slippery final slivers get used up instead of washed down the drain.
The pouch works up to about 5 inches tall from roughly 40 yards of cotton, starting from a chain and worked up both sides so there is minimal seaming. Cotton is the right fiber here — it is naturally absorbent, dries quickly between showers, and machine washes like a dream.
You will need an H hook (5 mm), about 40 yards of size 4 cotton yarn (I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Cotton in Brights Print), a tapestry needle, and scissors. Stitches are chains, half double crochet, and my cluster puff, fully explained step by step.
This is an instant PDF download. Pair one with a pretty bar of soap for an instant, useful gift — these are a staple in my own bathroom and one of the most popular eco-friendly makes in the shop.
