About this pattern
A mug cozy is what I hand to people who say they do not have time to crochet. It is a flat rectangle of cluster puffs with a chain loop that fastens around the handle, so it holds on rather than sliding off, and most people finish one inside an hour.
The construction could not be simpler. The PDF gives no finished measurement because the fit is set by length rather than gauge: work sixteen rows of cluster puff, then wrap it around your own mug before you close the loop. If you crochet tightly there is a note about adding an extra row.
Two pages, five photos, and the cluster puff written out in full alongside the chain, single crochet, double crochet and slip stitch you will use. Pair one with a mug and a packet of cocoa and you have a teacher gift, a stocking stuffer or a thinking-of-you present that looks like it took far longer than an afternoon.
